The Mission: Possible Turkey Fry began in 2006 when Tracy Lawrence and a few friends decided to buy some fryers and turkeys, gather in a parking lot, and head out to homeless camps to ensure that everyone had a hot meal. What started as a small, grassroots effort has since grown into a major annual event, with the mission of feeding those in need in Nashville and beyond.
Over the past 18 years, the Turkey Fry has evolved from frying just a handful of turkeys to over 1,500, feeding thousands of individuals and families in need. Through collaboration with local organizations across Middle Tennessee and the unwavering support of generous sponsors and volunteers, the event has expanded its reach, not only providing thousands of meals but also raising significant financial donations to further support the cause.
“When we first started with just a few turkeys, I never imagined we’d be frying more than a dozen, let alone raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the cause,” Tracy reflects on the incredible growth of the event over the years.
In recent years, Mission: Possible has added a Benefit Concert to its lineup, featuring performances by top country artists who come together to support our mission. The concert takes place the evening after the Turkey Fry, and past performers have included Tim McGraw, Luke Combs, Chris Young, Lainey Wilson, Justin Moore, Cole Swindell, and Gary Allan.
This year, Mission: Possible is gearing up for its largest event yet, with a goal of frying 1,500 turkeys. To accommodate the growing demand, the event has moved to the Nashville Fairgrounds, allowing even more counties outside of Davidson County to benefit from the meals.
